Scott Cain is the Chief Business Officer of Future Cities Catapult. Their mission is to advance urban innovation, to grow UK companies, and to make cities better. Future Cities Catapult brings together businesses, universities and city leaders so to tackle the toughest problems facing cities. From their Urban Innovation Centre in London, FCC provides world-class facilities and expertise to support the development of new products and services, as well as opportunities to collaborate, test ideas and develop business models.

Scott will be speaking and joining the panel for Thematic 4: “Building a Conscious City: The Role of Governance and Industry”

In this theme, we will explore the role that industry and policy play in built environment research; addressing issues concerning professional responsibility, confidentiality, consent, risk and vulnerability. Alan Penn, Dean of the Bartlett previously argued that “the design of the built environment has effects not only on individuals, but also on collective communities and organisations; not only on immediate clients for design, but on the public at large and future generations. This raises specific responsibilities amongst built environment professionals that are different to those in medical practice”.
