Conscious Cities is a developing field. We’re looking for writing that encourages dialogue and opens up new channels of thinking.

We are welcoming submissions from the fields of Architecture, Urban Design, Construction, Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, Technology, Governance, Policy, and Ethics. The writing for this open access journal should be clear and accessible to a wider audience.

The Conscious Cities Journal explores the following:

  • The Philosophy of Conscious Cities – Consciousness, Artificial Intelligence, Ethics.
  • Methods of Observation and Analysis – Understanding forms of expression and their meaning, Big Data, Social Media.
  • Drivers and Tools for Design – Methods for informing and creating Architecture and Urban Design. Guidelines, Novel Approaches, Case Studies, Technology.
  • Making an Impact – Policy, Decision Making, Outreach.


Word count: 500 – 2000 words or a visual contribution (images, videos, etc)
Referencing: References are each numbered (superscript in text) according to the alphabetical oder (as they appear in the text in the reference section). Please see example below:
