Our second keynote speaker is Professor Colin Ellard – cognitive neuroscientist, design consultant and author of Places of the Heart: The Psychogeography of Everyday Life. Colin directs the Urban Realities Laboratory at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, where he works at the intersection of neuroscience and architectural, environmental and urban design. The Laboratory employs a wide variety of methods ranging from field studies of behaviour in urban and architectural settings to the use of immersive virtual reality.
Colin’s research reflects his fascination with the many ways that the settings of our lives affect how we think and feel. This cuts across a number of our conference thematics for #CCities2 but primarily, his research fits into Thematic 1, which asks what can neuroscience teach us about the built environment?
The conference is just two weeks away and we hope that you can join us to hear Colin’s contribution! Tickets are available here.
